UFC 214 attendance, gate and bonuses

July 30, 2017

The UFC announced the attendance, gate and bonuses for UFC 214 in Anaheim Saturday night.

Jon Jones, Volkan Oezdemir, Brian Ortega, and Renato Moicano earned the $50,000 bonuses.  Jones and Oezdemir won for their stoppages and Ortega and Moicano earned the Fight of the Night.

The event at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California drew 16,610 fans for a live gate of $2,448,870.  It was the best gate for the venue in the 7 UFC events held at the venue.

Payout Perspective:

The Curran-Albu fight could have drawn the FOTN bonus but Ortega’s stoppage probably gave the fight the nod.  Southern California is a great region for MMA and the attendance and gate reflects the fact that when there are solid fights, people will come.  Clearly, this card was the strongest of the year.

This seems like a really low gate even for a non-Vegas event. The biggest show of the year, 1 million+ ppv buys (according to Dana), and only $2.4 million. Compare that to Canelo-Chavez Jr., an event of similar magnitude, attendance and buyrate did over $10.6 million in gate receipts.
