On Friday Demetrious Johnson formally announced his retirement from pro mixed martial arts. Johnson made the announcement at ONE’s event in Denver. Johnson was announced to be the first inductee into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame.

This past August, Johnson competed at the IBJJF World Masters in the Black Belt division for the first time.

He started in amateur MMA in 2006 and after going 9-0 he turned pro in 2009. His first fight was at UFC 126 in February 2011. He won the UFC Flyweight title by winning a tournament in 2012. He defeated Joseph Benavidez in a slit decision for the title at UFC 152 in September 2012. He broke the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses with 11 before losing to Henry Cejudo via split decision in August 2018. It was Johnson’s last UFC appearance.

Johnson was “traded” to ONE from the UFC in exchange for Ben Askren. He made his ONE debut in August 2019.

Wait, is this for real? Trump spent $60 million of our taxpayer funds to host a UFC fight and then is selling UFC coin to line his family’s pockets. The Trump corruption swamp is a mile deep.
