Conor McGregor will make at least $1 million Saturday night at UFC 196 as disclosed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Nate Diaz is scheduled to make $500,000.
In addition, per an ESPN report by Brett Okamoto, Holly Holm will make $500,000 and Miesha Tate will make $46,000 to show and $46,000 to win.
McGregor’s $1 million payday is the largest commission disclosed payday in UFC history. Fighters do make more than the reported payouts from the commission, but this is the first time that a UFC fighter will make $1 million from the outset.
McGregor boasted in a CNBC interview that he would make over $10 million for this fight. While this may still be true, it will likely come in the form of bonuses, sponsors, PPV upside and other forms of revenue.
Anderson Silva made $800,000 ($600K show, $200K win bonus) at UFC 183 which was the previous high.
Payout Perspective:
As you may conclude, the $500,000 is the most Diaz will make in his UFC career. Maybe $500,000 is the benchmark for fill-in challengers as Anthony Johnson made $500,000 at UFC 187 for taking the Daniel Cormier fight. Holm’s $500,000 is much more than any disclosed pay than Rousey. Obviously, Rousey made more than what is being disclosed but it’s interesting to note Holm’s upfront money. Even if she does not receive additional compensation, it’s a very good payday for just her fourth fight in the UFC.

Hahahaha.low pay….i guess the takeover is going to wait…..for a long long time hahaha…never…how much will broner make against unknown theopane?
E tops says
Right. The hypemachine is running out of gas. Only the gullible are still buying into the UFC’s publicity stunts.
Rizin and Bellator are the new big boys on the block. The UFC’s losing relevance.
The 10-million payment statement was an obvious lie. I’m waiting to see to what other desperate publicity stunt gimmicks the UFC will resort to to stay relevant. UFC cartoon series? UFC comics? UFC deodorants?
d says
McGregor’s making more money in this fight than any boxer other than Canelo and some charity cases.
The Greatest says
Is he getting the other $9M from Reebox?
d says
Na, he’s getting it from ppv points and various other things. Unfortunately boxing doesn’t have any ppv stars other than Canelo, because no one will pay for it and their overall interest is dying. That’s why no boxers make McGregor money other than Canelo who is overpaid as it is.
This will be another big McGregor ppv and could hit 1m buys. Boxing can’t even hit 1m anymore.
The Greatest says
Conor doesn’t make $10M. Hes had 1 ppv do 1M.
But even if he did make $10M from Reebox, he still doesnt crack top 5 for boxing paydays.
Froch made more his last fight, Klitschko makes more than that, Pacquiao makes more than that, Fury makes more than that, Cotto makes more than that, and as you pointed out, Canelo makes more than that.
These are also verified fight purses, not the fighter making dubious claims on a tv show.
d says
McGregor makes more than every boxer other than Canelo and Pacquaio’s last fight. You have to fight on ppv to make McGregor type of money and boxing only has 1 ppv star left.
All of the information you presented was false, but that is nothing new.

Game over mcgregor, you are nowhere near where Floyd is or ever will be. Kudos to Diaz for showing what a real fighter is about. Dana may need to seek counseling after tonight.
jf says
WOW, is Diaz game or what?!
1- There’s no way in HELL the UFC can justify giving Conman McClown a title fight against Dos Anjos or Robbie Lawler.
2- Diaz EARNED a title shot against Dos Anjos.
3- WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU PROGRAM FOR UFC 200 NOW????
Rousey’s coming back in November, Conor will most likely be suspended 6 months for concussion. The ONLY champ available is Robbie Lawler and he’s not a draw.
The UFC better offer GSP like 10 million or whatever to come back against Robbie at 200!
d says
Boy did Holm ever get exposed. Why would Dana need to seek counseling? Rousey looks like she is getting her title back and unlike McGregor she was a dominant champ.
Game over for McGregor? Uh, he is still the 145lb champ. He lost at 170lbs. He still has at least 2 more huge ppvs coming up.
You are right though, he isn’t like Mayweather, because Connor actually fights. Mayweather just ran away and never engaged with anyone on a championship level when he moved up in weight.
Wil says
Fellas you guys are really amazing with this boxing vs mma mess….you all look like a bunch of kids arguing over toys. None of you are making that money so whats the problem???
Wil says
Anyway, good pay, thats getting up there in Premier Boxing Championship range. I doubt Conor will ever be able to pull that again given his loss, it may be a while before we see a UFC fighter with that selling capability for a while. The UFC is now without an “undefeated” (since he had already lost twice) superstar to pull in the casual viewership.
Wil says
By the way D, youre being inaccurate with that “mcgregor makes more than every boxer except canelo” talk….you know better than that. Dont sacrifice credibility like that bro.
d says
Wil, you are saying that because you haven’t studied the subject and really don’t know what you are talking about.
Unless you are throwing in Pacquaio who is retired in a month, who in boxing makes more than McGregor other than Canelo? There is no one that does on a consistent basis because there is no ppv for boxers other than Canelo. That is where the money is, not tv contracts.
d says
Wil, do you understand that ppv points payout out the overwhelming majority of UFC ppv star’s pay? Because it seems like you aren’t aware. Also, this won’t affect McGregor’s money at all for his next fight unless his ppv sells less which I can’t imagine seeing how he’s going to be fighting at UFC 200.
PBC boxers make less than UFC ppv stars. PBC is also another charity case that will fold soon. They are operating at a massive loss and have no future. Bellator doubles them up on spike.
Casual viewership is not going anywhere anytime soon. McGregor will be at UFC 200 which will do well over 1m ppv buys. Jones-Cormier will be here in a month. Rousey in the fall. Plus a number of solid fights in between. Boxing is the one struggling to put anything together.

So a loss doesn’t affect a PPV Stars stock? Yeah and pigs fly
Wil says
PBC main event fighters on NBC, Fox, ESPN in the prime time make $1 to $1.5 million. Check out the paydays for guys like Garcia, Wilder, Guererro, Mares, Thurman, DeGale, Quillin, etc etc etc. I could care less if PBC folds, if it does, it folds back into Showtime, if it doesnt, a network purchases it. And I think you missed the other day where Crawford made close to $2m for his defense against Lundy. I also think you missed that Frampton made over $2m in his last fight. I think you also missed that both Haye and Joshua both made over 7 figures in their last fights. I also think you missed the payday for Kovalev….bro, I could go on and on. Boxers are better paid at the top level…..but you know what? I dont make that money, neither do you, neither do any of us, so other than being accurate, it really doesnt matter does it? All of us on this page work for a living.
d says
“So a loss doesn’t affect a PPV Stars stock? Yeah and pigs fly”
Not really much here. It will affect him if he loses at 145 though.
Fight Fan says
Casual fans don’t care about it being 2 different weight classes D, they just see a fighter who lost badly and was danas poster boy. Hope he’s been practicing his card counting.

Exactly my point. UFC ppv fighters making mutli millions. McGregor claims he was going to make 10m, which I don’t see as being really some blatant exaggeration. Even if it isn’t 10m it is certainly at least 7 or 8m considering the revenue he is bringing in with the buys and gates.
” I could care less if PBC folds, if it does, it folds back into Showtime, if it doesnt, a network purchases it. ”
You don’t know how business works. No one will purchase it, because it failed the proof of concept phase.
“And I think you missed the other day where Crawford made close to $2m for his defense against Lundy. I also think you missed that Frampton made over $2m in his last fight.”
Nope, that just validates my point. Also, I can’t vouch for Frampton as his purse is not disclosed by an athletic commission.
” I think you also missed that both Haye and Joshua both made over 7 figures in their last fights. I also think you missed the payday for Kovalev….bro, I could go on and on. ”
Na, this falls in line exactly with what I’ve been saying, you just aren’t aware of what I stated.
“Boxers are better paid at the top level”
My point was that A. it was not because of the revenue coming in, B. because headlining boxers are overpaid, while ufc headliners are underpaid, and C. that still doesn’t dismiss that McGregor makes more than every boxer not named Canelo.

I’m a fan of mma, not a fan of the circus ufc has become and them always trying to take shots at boxing and mayweather to start beefs for media attention. Back in the day it was about the fights and backing up your game, now they hype their shows like a wwe product and do anything to get mainstream attention l.

Kind of like Pacquaio when he was ko’d by Marquez and lost to Bradley, following not much later by the biggest fight in boxing history.
Would you like to bet that UFC 200 with McGregor will go over 1m buys? Let’s bet loser leaves the board.

No you aren’t. You hate the sport. It is shown in every one of your comments, constantly defending boxing, while trashing mma. It is actually the opposite also, Mayweather started all of this literally 10 years ago by trashing mma to build his name up, because he saw the business of mma start to explode. Back in the day, it was about the fights?? Well, it still is, but regardless, they were using even more wwe style tactics with pyrotechnics and the jumbo trons, while having guys like Ortiz do exactly what Ali was doing, which proves BOXING has been using those types of tactics since the 60s. I’ve yet to see an action packed Mayweather fight that didn’t involve hype. At least the UFC fighters after they are done hyping a fight, actually fight. Mayweather didn’t.
The truth is, you really hate the fact that there is more interest in mma, which is why you are always on here smearing the UFC, etc.

McGregor lost. There goes your cash cow hahaha
d says
His next fight will do bigger numbers. Hahahaha.
Also, even if he consistently loses and is not a ppv star anymore, the UFC’s ability to replace him with someone else will not take 10 years like it does in boxing. HAHAHA!!

Yes he did. That’s why he was trashing them. He felt threatened by them. Go youtube it. Goes back to 2006.
