Koscheck gives opinion on fighter union

February 27, 2015

During the press functions leading up to UFC 184 this Saturday, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani interviewed Josh Koscheck.  He indicated that there should be a fighter’s union.

“There’s no 401K at the end of the day,” said Koscheck during the interview.  Koscheck, recognizing the end of his fight career is near, gave his perspective on what young fighters should do to prepare for their future and “residual income.”

Koscheck would not give specifics on when and if he would want to be involved in putting together a union, but indicated that a union would make the sport grow.  He also gave his opinion that UFC contracted fighters are employees and not independent contractors as they are currently classified.

Payout Perspective:

Just another perspective about fighters’ rights coming from a fighter that nears the end of his career.  It doesn’t seem that Koscheck wants to become involved in organizing a union in the UFC although he is not opposed to one being set up.  Koscheck seems like he has invested his fight earnings and is moving on to his post-fight career with business interests outside the octagon.

So his career is over and he wants money to keep rolling in off the backs of the next wave of fighters now that he wouldn’t have to pay anything into it? Lol what a tool! Unions have destroyed companies and screwed the public for decades. But they are great tools for greedy people to suck the life out of entity for their own personal gain.

    B.s. Is pissed hahahaha

BS, if it weren’t for unions, the shit Rockefeller used to pull would still be going on. Of course sometimes it becomes abusive and excessive, but if you want to talk about screwing the public, look no further than what corporations have done to society. Just to give you an idea of the political power they wield- they contribute approximately 30x more than unions do to politicians on a federal level.

There is no longer a use for unions. They had their place. Today there is enough federal regulation on pay, safety, and many other requirements. They are good for no one but those in them if even that.

  5. d on February 28th, 2015 9:59 AM

Wow. Please don’t ever vote. Your statements right there are horrifying. The regulations are set up to benefit the corporations. Why do you think federal regulatory bodies are always run by people who have had interest in the business of whatever they are giving oversight to?

  6. BrainSmasher on February 28th, 2015 4:59 PM

Keep making a fool of your self. Oscea, Labor Boards, and many other agencies are a pain in the ass to corporations. You are an anti government fool who has no clue what he is talking about. Have fun with you “man keeping you down” mentality. There is a balance between employee and corporations that has to be reached for society to work and for progress to happen. Just because you have conditioned yourself to be a slave doesn’t mean corporations are evil.

Dude, back out of this one. You don’t know what you are talking about. You have no concept of how lobbying works or how oversight appointments work. OSHA is a joke. The people who are appointed to head the organization typically worked at the US chamber of commerce in the past. The EPA is almost always headed by people who have worked in the energy industry in the past. Same goes for nearly every regulatory body within our federal gov’t. Regulations are set up to manipulate people….uneducated people like you. Corporations do everything they can to eliminate free enterprise. They bribe politicians to get legislation that benefits their business regardless if it is horrible for employees, the public, the environment, etc. Go check out a financial audit of nearly every federal politician and you will see what I mean. They aren’t financed by the people, they are getting nearly all of their money from corporations. Also, now after the Citizens United ruling, the amount of lobbying has opened the flood gates for insane levels of bribery.

You are a moronic sheep who just accepts what politicians that shit down your throat tell you. The only slave here is you…you just aren’t aware of it.

Keep believing that. I deal with said agencies and know for a fact you are an idiot. Of course members of agencies were involved with the industry. That’s how they can be educated on an issue. I know you would rather have an idiot with an agenda at the controls deciding societies economical fate. But that isn’t how any works when you want someone done right and successfully. That is why know it alls like you are left out of societies decisions making process. You just keep providing your uneducated, ambition less sheep labor. Let us that make an effort, create jobs, and pay taxes and built the infrastructure do what we do best and you keep complaining about everything.

How am I a slave? I am happy and content with the direction I have chosen and worked hard to take that path. I don’t piss and moan about others due to my own failures. I also understand that thing are more complicated than just everyone being corrupt when I don’t like or agree with sonething. There isn’t an almighty evil force controlling society. It’s made up of normal people who all have a job. Then there is people like you who don’t understand it and assume someone is out to get everyone.

There is millions of people and families behind these corporations you think should be shut down when something goes wrong. Thankfully sometimes a compromise is made that’s best for all involved. Yelling kill the empire only makes you look like an idiot. Have fun at your anti Walmart rallies!

“I deal with said agencies and know for a fact you are an idiot.”

You didn’t even know the proper acronym for OSHA, yet you work with said agencies? Amusing.

“Of course members of agencies were involved with the industry. That’s how they can be educated on an issue. I know you would rather have an idiot with an agenda at the controls deciding societies economical fate.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Right, so let’s get this straight- the only people educated on a field are the people who have BUSINESS interests in the past from the given field?? Are you seriously this retarded? That is insanity! Do you have any idea how stupid what you just said is? Why don’t we start to let criminal’s determine their guilt/non guilt or determine their sentences? Maybe we should let lobbyists legally write up legislation for their field of interest. HAHA!

The people who should be giving oversight are people who are unbiased and will not glaze over blatant corruption. Unfortunately, there are loads of sheep out there like you who are oblivious to this which allows it to continue.

“That is why know it alls like you are left out of societies decisions making process. You just keep providing your uneducated, ambition less sheep labor. Let us that make an effort, create jobs, and pay taxes and built the infrastructure do what we do best and you keep complaining about everything.”

Did you go to the Sal school of comprehension? This is beyond incoherent.

If you were trying to imply I was a unionized laborer, I am not. I run my own business- and yes, provide jobs. The only difference is, I am not a delusional idiot who is unaware of the fact that those corporations whom you love fuck you over every day of your life. You are just too stupid to realize this.

“I also understand that thing are more complicated than just everyone being corrupt when I don’t like or agree with sonething. There isn’t an almighty evil force controlling society. It’s made up of normal people who all have a job. Then there is people like you who don’t understand it and assume someone is out to get everyone.”

Again, please don’t vote. Your vote is horrifying. You don’t know what you are talking about at all. You don’t have a clue about how lobbying works. You think politicians/corporations play by all the nice rules of society and attempt to help out their fellow citizens. This is the most alarming, ass backwards thought process an individual can possibly have. The very basis of the Constitution is the fact that we should NOT trust our gov’t.

Just because I am informed on how political/economic manipulation works and you are blind, doesn’t mean I am somehow paranoid. There is indisputable evidence of what I’m pointing out- just audit their financial records and anyone who is not in denial would see this to be true. This doesn’t even include Super PAC money that is non profit which is undisclosed. You are out of your league on this argument, you don’t know entry level information on how campaign financing works.

I didn’t say corporations should be shut down, they should be regulated properly. Most notably by addressing the corrupt campaign financing laws. They should also go back to the states controlling them rather than the federal gov’t. The constitution gives states the power to charter corporations, not the federal gov’t which is what this has devolved into. You see, initially, they were there to provide for the public, by building things like infrastructure, etc, not solely the shareholders. Initially, they also were not permitted to make contributions- now they do with loopholes. Not that I’d expect you to understand any of this seeing how you don’t know shit about the subject, I just thought I might give you an idea of how the world functions.

You are a moron who is just as bad as all of the boxing/anti-mma trolls on here.

Lol run your own business? Work on cars or mow lawns? Typical liberal delusions. There is no difference in the structure and workings of corps and agencies than Unions. Yet you defend Unions. People like you are the problem and why this country is going down hill as it becomes more liberal with hot head, angry, miserable, idiots like your self. Always looking for someone to blame for your own mediocrity.

  12. d on March 1st, 2015 10:48 PM

Haha. Dude, I make more money in a week than you make in a year with your lemonade stand. Don’t worry though, if one of the local kids gets sick from your lemonade, I don’t think “Oscea” will give a shit.

I’m no liberal- you don’t even know what a liberal is, you idiot.

“There is no difference in the structure and workings of corps and agencies than Unions. ”

Are you aware of your surroundings? This is delusional.

“People like you are the problem and why this country is going down hill as it becomes more liberal with hot head, angry, miserable, idiots like your self. Always looking for someone to blame for your own mediocrity.”

Haha. More like the country is going down the shitter because low informed voters like you head to the polls. Again, you don’t know what a liberal is. I voted for Gary Johnson in the last election(a Libertarian-hardly someone who is a liberal), who did you vote for if you are old enough? Let me guess you voted Republican across the board. If so, I’ve got some news for you- you are a fucking liberal moron! Republicans love big gov’t spending. They love federal gov’t expansion. They are also lobbied to by virtually the same sources as the Democrats are. I choose to vote against corporatism that ruins our society, you choose to let them shit on you.

Although I’ve humiliated you here- you did receive a bit of educating today if you decide to open your eyes to reality.

Got something to say?
