UFC Fight Night 56 attendance and bonuses

November 9, 2014 by Jason Cruz 8 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the attendance and bonuses for UFC Fight Night 56 from Uberlandia, Brazil.  Ovince St. Preux headed the list of bonuses with a surprising, upset victory over Mauricio “Shogun” rua.

Attendance at the Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil drew 5,761 fans to the venue.  The venue has a capacity of 8,000.

OSP, Leandro Silva, Thomas Almeida and Tim Gorman each won $50,000 bonuses for the night.  Almeida and Gorman won Fight of the Night.

Payout Perspective:

As has become custom, the gate for these Fight Night events in Brazil is rarely announced.  Aside from the OSP bonus, the rest of the fighters receiving an additional $50K were on the prelim card.

Why can’t we take the ticket prices and the total attendance and estimate the gate at these Brazil shows?
How much is a ticket for the UFC in Uberlandia?

I’m surprised Shogun couldn’t draw a bigger crowd. I though he was very popular in Brazil. I don’t know anything about Uberlandia – is MMA big there? I feel like they could have sold out an arena in Curitiba.

From Wikipedia “a population of 646,673 inhabitants, according to 2013 estimates” – that’s not very big. Not sure why Uberlandia was a choice for a venue.

How come the gate is never released for Brazil? They release US, Canada, and Aussie gates, even the UK.
