MMA Payout has learned from a Nielsen source that Friday night’s replay of Bellator 120, the company’s first PPV from May scored an average viewership of 890,000 viewers. The 3 hour event starting at 9pm ET/PT peaked at 1,334,000 viewers at 11:39pm.
The peak occurred at the beginning of the King Mo-Rampage fight. Bellator 120 averaged 1 million viewers for 47 minutes of the telecast according to the Nielsen source. It also was second in terms of viewership on cable in the Male 18-49 demo during the time period.
Payout Perspective:
The re-air of May’s PPV which reportedly drew 100,000 buys showed that people that did not buy the initial PPV wanted to see it or for those that saw the fights, wanted to see it again. Regardless, it’s a good number for what essentially was a rerun. The PPV re-air is a good way to condition viewers to tune back in on Friday night’s for Bellator’s Summer Series with a live event happening this Friday.

Very good number for a rerun of a mid major mma promotion. Good for Bellator.
Diego says
Didn’t know it was on (and apparently neither did my DVR) but good number for the re-run of a show two months old.

Bellator catching up quick to UFCaca

I have always supported the ufc as the single promotion for mma being best for the sport. But credit where it is due. This isnt a home run but good numbers. Also a good idea to get their followers used to what a bmma ppv is like and what they are paying for. The ppv come off as amateurish as for production. But the fights were not bad. I also dont believe it sold 100k.
Anti troll says
Not bad at all. It’s better for fans if ufc has a rival. We get better fights like the fight night that’s going head to head with bellator. Also nice to see fair comments except for pink pig moronic comments.
Saldathief says
for those of you who saw it how was it compared to a decent UFC show?
BrainSmasher says
It was better than other smaller promotions and at times it seemed to have the big show feel. But there was a lot of issues in production. Backstage interviews seemed staged and very awkward. The hype for the fights comes of very WWEish. Which for some might be fine but not for real fight fans. We are meat eaters. We don’t like fake beef! The way BMMA is handling Rampage is a lot like how Elite Xc handled Kimbo. It makes a mockery of the sport and makes them look like a trashy version of MMA. The match ups didn’t make sense and not competitive. The show outside of a few moments was enjoyable. But you could just tell it was their first PPV. Almost every round there was to many people in the cage. The commission was always asking someone to leave. They were allowed one cornerman and a cutman. At one point a corner said “we don’t have a cut man”. Just poorly organized.
Diego says
I thought it was pretty good and compared well to a UFC PPV, though the production was clearly inferior. The fights were good overall. The Rampabe-Lawal fight disappointed but that happens. Tito fought a guy half his size, but that also happens and the fight itself wasn’t bad, just meaningless. The Chandler fight was very good, which I didn’t expect.
It was a solid first effort. I can see Bellator doing one or two PPV shows per year, but not more than that.
Saldathief says
I use to always laugh at the production difference from Elite xc and Strikeforce compared to the UFC. Kimbo lol, yea I guess they will try anything. Thanks for the review guys.
D says
Diego, the argument at the end with Jackson and Lawal was worth the ppv alone. Those two should go on tour together. One of the funnier exchanges I’ve heard in a while.

once again nothing to celebrate here. old UFC names boosting a one off style card. nothing to be happy about when you lost to fucking cops even if the event is a “re-run”, do you know what would happen if the UFC aired a numbered event on such a great platform as spike?
theyd fucking OWN the entire day on spike (and 95% of EVERYTHING on cable or broadcast) in all relevant metrics . so suffice it to say im NOT impressed at all. not even a sliver.
the performance of bellator 106 was light-years, LIGHT-YEARS beyond this terrible arrhythmic waltz of a card
Diego says
truth,
Numbered UFC re-runs on Spike generally did between 1.5 – 2 M views. That’s about double what Bellator did, but then again, viewership is down across all platforms these days, so I don’t know if the UFC could match those numbers today (especially not with the recent cards). That number does not “OWN”. It’s a great number (for a re-run), but hardly sending TV execs into ecstasy.

Bellator would rival the sinking ship ufc who has q big loan due hahahaha…dw is afraid of viacom
TRUTHspitter says
uh Diego the average for UFC ppv replay “premieres” on spike was 2.3 million………
wasn’t speaking about that particular point and the true relevant averages would regularly beat other sports on espn, cbs, etc. hmmmmmmm………
did you think i wouldnt have all this information on hand and readily available to me? or maybe you thought id let that slide… thus letting you spread misinformation without a reckoning? hmmmmmm………..
Diego says
TS – please post your sources – here’s what I have, and I admit I was a little off in my estimate of 1.5-2M, a few shows scored higher.
UFC 110 – 1.4 M avg.
UFC 107 – 2.2 M (not 100% sure if peak or avg. but I believe it’s avg)
UFC 100 – 2 M avg.
UFC 94 – 1.9 M avg.
UFC 91 – 2.3 M avg.
That’s probably not a comprehensive list, but I don’t see how the average is 2.3M – my math says 1.96M. We’re splitting hairs here, but please, do show me the information you have on hand and readily available to you.

FINALLY i get one of you people to DO YOUR RESEARCH! took you a while but youve made it! and yes you missing quite a few throughout the tenure of UFCs spike tv relationship; for instance UFC 116, etc.
BRAVO! now if i can only get someone else whos on my GOD-LIKE level when it comes to ratings discussion and analysis
Diego says
So what are the numbers then? Please post them. You keep insulting everyone, but you don’t actually back up your ASSertion (do you like what I did there?) of a 2.3 M average. You’re not getting lazy on me are you? Or can you just not admit that you’re wrong? C’mon – do your research.
TRUTHspitter says
Hey DiEGGo C’mon – do your FUCKING RESEARCH,,,,, otherwise youd know that many more than that aired on spike tv………….
Diego says
So again, you won’t post it. You just make claims.
