UFC Fight Night 41 attendance and bonus

May 31, 2014

MMA Junkie reports the attendance and performance bonuses from the first event held Saturday, UFC Fight Night 41 from Berlin, Germany.

No Fight of the Night bonus was awarded although 4 performance bonuses were handed out at $50K each.  Gegard Mousasi, C.B. Dolloway, Niklas Backstrom and Magnus Cedenblad were the recipients as announced by UFC executive Gary Cook at the post-fight press conference.

Also announced was the attendance at the O2 World Berlin which drew 8,000 fans according to the UFC post-fight press conference.  There was no breakdown available for the number of comps, if any, for the event.  Regardless, it sounds like the UFC was impressed with the event and the local coverage as it has already initiated plans to return in May 2015.

Payout Perspective:

Mousasi and Dolloway probably did the most for their positions in their divisions at UFC FN 41.  A look at the dimensions of the venue and it would appear that UFC FN 41 was not at capacity.  Still, it appears that the UFC was happy with attendance and the overall reception of the UFC.  With its initiative to expand in new territories, garnering a following in Germany would help with the UFC efforts.  The UFCs last two visits to Germany (UFC 99 and UFC 122) drew more attendance but also received opposition.

Just wondering. Does anything that happens on fightpass really matter to the majority of UFC/MMA fans?

  2. saldathief on June 1st, 2014 7:35 AM

Horrible numbers! thats 2000 on the floor with 6 k in the seats for an arena that holds 17k in the seats. Berlin is a beautiful city, should of held it in a much smaller venue so the headline would have read “UFC sells out first Berlin show” total amateurs!!!

“There was no breakdown available for the number of comps, if any, for the event. ”

The fact that there was no gate numbers tells you there was plenty of free tickets given away.

If Dana says these shows are not for me I respect his judgement and do not watch.

How many does klitchko draw in germany?froch groves 2 how many watched live?hahaha maybe chang has stats on this….

Klitscho’s are huge stars in Europe, you cant really compare them to any Euro MMA fighter. The UFC thinks their name and brand alone will sell tickets and PPV Hence shit pay, the fuddle system of business and lack or any real lasting stars and fly by night fans.

MMA is banned from TV in Germany, the only thing I would guess is they expected European fans to travel to this event from other countries, as Germany is in the middle of Europe.

Haha. Klischko’s? Vitali hasn’t boxed in 2 years, so you are saying one of boxing’s biggest 2 stars in Europe is a retired boxer in his 40s. SalDaQueef everyone.

Every time the boxing troll community speaks, they give validity to the overwhelming popularity of mma.

Forget the Klitschko’s… Sturm-Soliman 2 on Saturday drew more people in Germany than UFC.

Froch-Groves 2 just surpassed Mayweather-Hatton as the highest selling UK Pay per view in combat sports history. Over 1.2 million sales and counting… 80,000 in attendance!

  11. saldathief on June 2nd, 2014 11:51 AM

Vitali could stand in a ring naked and jerk off and sell more tickets then the UFC in Germany. WOW amazing Froch numbers if they are accurate, with the HBO numbers looks like this fight out drew all the UFC PPV combined so far for 2014 epic! My prediction D= douchebag Froch Groves 2 out sells the top UFC ppv and problabbly the top 2 combined. Oh but wait, Boxing only has 2 stars! Ridiculous!!!

I bet that Soliman-Sturm 2 this past weekend sold more PPVs in Australia than any UFC event this year in Australia as well.

  13. D on June 2nd, 2014 1:39 PM

DaQueef, your thought patterns are alarmingly homosexual in nature.

You compare apples to oranges like it is the norm. The UFC charges on average $50 for their ppvs, the Froch-Groves fight was a little more than half of that at $28 dummy. The high end gross figure for the fight by the promoter was estimated at $33m, and that was probably an exaggeration. That is still less than half of what Weidman-Silva II did and there will be at least 2 ufc’s this year that outdraw it revenue wise. God you are an idiot.

    SalDaQueef everyone, SalDaQueef!

Hahaha…strum is a bigger name than the ufc in germany

How many PPV buys does the UFC have in Europe ever?? ZERO! so yea we can’t compare. You know you lost and you know I’m right and I said buys not $ but we can go a head and I will say that Froch fight will Gross more US $ then the best UFC fight in 2014. Take that UFC paid blow job boy please worm your way out of that, you probably know how to worm your way to getting an extra 10$ for a blow job,
Froch Groves 2 will gross more US$ then the best UFC fight of 2014!!!! ass clown

  17. Sampson The One and Only on June 2nd, 2014 6:31 PM

    Yeah I think so… $45 million gross on PPV + $12 million gate + HBO money, sponsorships, & international rrights = $60 million for Froch-Groves 2.

UFC would need a card to hit 800,000 at least

  18. D on June 2nd, 2014 8:09 PM

How many ppvs does boxing have in Europe Ever?? They have a ppv once every 3-4 years. And in their mega cards they still can’t draw even half of what the big ufc ppvs can do revenue wise.

Haha. Okay, so at the end of the year when you are proven dead wrong because you are a mullet haired, foot fist way transfer to boxing fruitcake fanboy, are you going to admit you were dead wrong? I doubt it, you are shameless. Take that you welfare to work Arum nutholder. Try one of these days to get Arum’s nuts out of your mouth.

Froch-Groves II will not at all gross more than the best ufc of 2014 and probably not even the top 2 despite the fact that the UFC lost their two biggest ppv draws. You are too stupid to realize how minor the UK market is.

Lost? You lose every time you make one of your idiotic statements that are complete exaggerations and delusions.

Samantha, you are such a troll. You lie about everything. Those numbers aren’t even close to correct. The high end estimate factoring everything in was 33million. The promoter disagrees with you. You are an idiot.

  19. saldathief on June 3rd, 2014 10:52 AM

WE shall see, 7 more months left in 14, UFC has to announce there remaining fights in the next month or 2. What could they possibly have that will do the numbers to compete with Froch Groves 2. Tough year for the UFC.

  20. D on June 3rd, 2014 11:16 AM

Haha. Uh, Weidman-Machida, Gustafsson-Jones. Realistically speaking, it won’t take much. A 500k ppv buy event with a decent gate should eclipse that. You still haven’t grasped the concept of how small the UK market is.
