Former UFC PR head, Jennifer Wenk, has opened her own PR firm and in conjunction with MMA sports agency Authentic Sports Management will represent the likes of Jon Jones and Rashard Evans. Wenk spent the last six years in charge of Public Relations for the UFC.
Via Authentic Sports Management press release:
“I am honored to have worked for the UFC and with owners and visionaries Lorenzo J. Fertitta and Dana White for the last six years,” said Jen Wenk, President, StarPR Las Vegas. “I only hope to continue my good public relations work in representing this dynamic new management company and many of the organization’s top fighters, including the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones, former UFC champion Rashad Evans and more. “
“The Authentic Sports Management team is thrilled to work with Jen Wenk, as her PR accomplishments at the UFC are unmatched,” said Glenn Robinson, Partner, Authentic Sports Management. “Jen will now play a lead role in the media and publicity initiatives for Authentic Sports Management and our premier group of fighters.” Added ASM’s Malki Kawa, “After working with Jen on numerous MMA media projects and PR opportunities for the fighters we represent, there was no second thought about adding her to the ASM team. This probably will be one of the smartest moves of my career.”
Payout Perspective:
A shakeup in the UFC PR department as Wenk leaves to start her own PR firm and work for UFC fighters. She will handle the daily PR and media relations for Authentic Sports Management stars. Wenk will use her contacts within the industry to find PR opportunities for the likes of Jones, Evans, Kenny Florian, Carlos Condit and Alan Belcher. According to MMA Weekly, there is no known reason for her departure from the UFC. The move to associate with Malki Kawa and Authentic Sports Management is interesting considering the recent consolidations in management by Frankie Edgar and GSP.
