The UFC announced that its Primetime show on Spike TV will return this October to hype the much anticipated Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez fight set for October 23rd in Anaheim, California.
This is the fourth installment of the series which provides viewers with behind-the-scenes coverage of each camp as they prepare for their big fight at UFC 121.
Via MMA Junkie:
In anticipation of their UFC 121 main-event fight, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar (5-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and undefeated challenger Cain Velasquez (8-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) will be featured in the latest edition of Spike TV’s three-part “UFC Primetime” special.
“UFC Primetime: Lesnar vs. Velasquez” debuts Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 11 p.m. ET/PT. Subsequent episodes air in the timeslot on Oct. 13 and Oct. 20.
Payout Perspective:
This installment of the “Primetime” series should be one of the more intriguing looks into the camps of Lesnar and Velasquez. For Lesnar, it will be interesting to see how changed a man he is since returning from his health issues. Most people do not know much about Velasquez and it will be interesting to see how much Primetime will feature his ethnic roots. Velasquez has been featured in UFC Countdown shows in the past and is an articulate individual but does he have enough charisma to carry off a 3-part series? Also, will this show feature trash-talk on the part of each or will we see mutual admiration. Moreover, what would be better to watch?
This is a good play by the UFC. With the backdrop of Southern California, the UFC is making a push for the Hispanic market. The UFC hopes that by featuring Velasquez in this series, it will drive ticket sales and PPV buys in Southern California and the Hispanic demographic.
