Jon Jones accepts guilty plea of DWI from prosecutors

April 1, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

On Tuesday, Jon Jones pleaded guilty to a DWI and brokered a deal with prosecutors which requires him to complete 48 hours community service, pay a $500 fine, 4 days house arrest, complete a 90-day drug treatment outpatient program and install an ignition interlock device in his car.

In exchange for his guilty plea, the prosecutors agreed to drop the firearm, open container and insurances charges against him.  Jones was arrested late last week in Albuquerque, New Mexico on charges of DWI, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container.  He failed a sobriety test on site and when given a breathalyzer tested above the legal limit.

Payout Perspective:

Despite a history of criminal offenses, Jones gets off with no jail time and little, to no lasting harm aside from a clear issue with alcohol.  Whether or not Jones can fight these demons is up to him and those around him.  Jones released a statement owning up to his issues but this is mere lip service unless he can help himself and those around him want to help him.
