The California State Athletic Commission released the attendance and gate figures from the Errol Spence-Shawn Porter fight on September 27th at The Staples Center.
The event drew 17,119 in attendance with 12,671 paying for a gross total of $1,257,155. After payments made to the commission including $100,000 for a live gate fee and another $35,000 for radio/TV tax, the event netted $2,139,793.67.
According to the breakdown of admission prices, 274 people purchased $1,000 seats. The biggest selling ticket prices was the $75 seats which drew 2,726 to purchase followed by the $125 seats which had 2,329 purchase them.
Payout Perspective:
Most boxing fans see this as good for boxing with over 12,000 fans buying tickets as you can infer that it elevates Errol Spence as a star. Even with over 4,300 who did not pay, the capacity to watch the PPV event was big. For boxing, where there really is just one fight to look forward too, paying between $75-125 for a seat at the event has to be seen as a win for the promotion.
