MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer reports that UFC 194 featuring Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm drew over 1 million PPV buys.
According to Melzer’s report, the PPV last month drew between 1 million and 1.1 million PPV buys. Not only did UFC 193 draw over 50,000 fans, it also surpassed the vaunted 1 million PPV buy barrier making it one of the most successful UFC events ever in terms of business revenue for the company.
Ronda Rousey PPV’s 2015
UFC 184: Rousey v. Zingano – 600,000
UFC 190: Rousey v. Correia – 900,000
UFC 193: Rousey v. Holm – ~1 – 1.1 million
Payout Perspective:
The news makes 2015 the biggest PPV for the company ever. Lorenzo Fertitta stated that December’s UFC 194 would be the third-biggest in UFC and based on MMA Fighting, it could be second to only UFC 100. For Rousey, it makes it the second straight PPV where she has drawn 900,000 PPV buys or better. Obviously, with her drawing power, the UFC hopes she doesn’t take too much time off between movies as they would want her back in the Octagon in 2016.

1M ppvs to watch a boxer beat the snot out of a judoka.
Nice.
Since a boxer won the fight, those ppvs go to Boxings total not the UFCs total.
Same with McGregor.
WOOOO HOOOO

Haha. Delusions of grandeur.
I’ll let Holly Holm’s striking coach(and head striking trainer at Jackson’s) Brandon Gibson, respond to that:
“I was raised with karate and boxing, so that’s my background. But I do think boxing, from a defensive standpoint, is still very, very, very flawed in transitions to MMA.
Holly Holm, with her great boxing background, was able to negate Ronda Rousey with MMA STRIKING. Ronda’s been very focused on traditional boxing and I think it showed a lot of flaws in that fight.”
So, not only was his pointing out her well rounded striking approach that is not a traditional boxing background, he was pointing out that Ronda’s approach was more traditional boxing. HAHA!! IE, Ronda-boxing striking, Holm-MMA/well rounded striking. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
MMA striking> Boxing striking
Back to back 1m buy ppvs for MMA/UFC, the last time two 1m buy ppvs occurred in boxing was back in 2012.
Boxing…. headed for the toilet!!

Why didn’t you quote the next paragraph that praised boxing development in mma?
Terrible article by the way. The whole article was about how “MMA striking” is the future and how no striking art works and some nonsense.
The same article then talks how GSP neutralized his opponents with a simple jab.
The most basic punch in boxing is MMAs biggest riddle.
d says
You exaggerate what he said about praising boxing development in mma.
It was a terrible article to you because based on your analysis you didn’t comprehend any of it.
Again, your analysis and conclusion of what the article was stating isn’t within reality. Someone shows you a number 1, you think it is a 7.
Also, just so you know, having a great jab is not standard for professional boxers, which is sad because it is the most important punch a boxer has. There are countless high level pros that do not have an elite jab.
That article really must have really stung seeing how Holm’s striking coach is stating everything you claimed to be wrong.
Haha!! Boxing in the gutter!!

Of course there are high level pros without an elite jab. But they are elite in other aspects of boxing. But I Can guarantee you that GSPs jab isnt better than any notable boxer. His jab is just basic but MMA is so poor in striking that he negates everyone with a simple jab.
Canelo throws a better jab than GSP and Canelo really doesnt throw the jab, but then again he doesnt need too.
When it comes to Holm and “mma striking” which doesnt exist by the way, there is no such martial art called “mma striking”. Its obvious that her boxing dominated that fight. Go ahead and try to tell me that those straight lefts that Rousey ate all night was some sort of “mma striking” and not fundamental boxing.

‘Of course there are high level pros without an elite jab. But they are elite in other aspects of boxing.”
As many mma fighters are elite in other areas of mma. MMA is far more complex than boxing, so to assume
“But I Can guarantee you that GSPs jab isnt better than any notable boxer. His jab is just basic but MMA is so poor in striking that he negates everyone with a simple jab.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Go watch hw’s throw jabs, it is a joke. I can’t tell you how many hw’s who were considered great that didn’t have the jab GSP has. Go watch someone like Riddick Bowe’s old fights and tell me that guy had even a decent jab. Just because they box, does not mean they are technically good at throwing a jab. Brawlers tend to have awful jabs.
“Canelo throws a better jab than GSP and Canelo really doesnt throw the jab, but then again he doesnt need too.”
If Canelo had a solid jab, maybe he would have given Mayweather trouble, and maybe he would be able to beat GGG and not run away from him. And no, I do not agree with you, GSP has an excellent jab, although it is difficult to compare because they are competing in two different sports.

Right, it doesn’t exist, which is why everyone who trains, or covers the sport would disagree with you including Gibson who was analyzing it. There combination of technique is what creates the mma striking. It is called MIXED MARTIAL ARTS, you see?
Again, you don’t know what you are talking about, Gibson analyzed it perfectly. The footwork was completely different, her defensive and offensive tactics were different and ROUSEY was the one with the more traditional boxing approach. The joint shots by the way were the ones that did most of the damage also. Clearly you don’t know what fundamental boxing is.
The Greatest says
Mma fighters arent elite in any aspects, thats what makes it a inferior sport.
Two grapplers throwing haymakers, wow how complex.
d says
MMA fighters are elite in many aspects, you need to educate yourself on the subject, you aren’t well informed.
What’s really entertaining is when boxers try kickboxing and get embarrassed, let alone mma. HAHAHA!!!

Hahahahaha!!!
Go watch his fights against Golatta and tell me who had a jab and who didn’t. The distance was dominated by Andrew. Bowe had a poor jab. He was the furthest thing from a technician. The “correspondent” that wrote that article was probably a fan writer. He even notes the following which I guess you didn’t bother to read:
” While his jab was far from accurate, it was constant.”
That says it all from someone attempting to credit his jab.
Sampson, go find anyone who had any credibility as an analyst discussing his jab, or better yet, go pick up a Kenny Weldon intro tape and learn what a jab is.
