Bloody Elbow reports that Manny Pacquiao facilitated a deal in which many of the big Filipino networks will air May 2nd’s fight between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
In an unprecedented move, rival networks that usual vie for broadcast rights of Pacquiao fights have agreed to air the fight. The fight will be available on various platforms and networks in the Philippines.
Via Bloody Elbow:
Top executives from the country’s biggest networks and companies such as GMA 7, ABS-CBN, TV5, Solar Sports, and SM Lifestyle Entertainment all gathered on Thursday afternoon to announce that they will all be airing the highly anticipated sporting event. From free TV, cable TV, pay-per-view, cinemas, radio, mobile and online streams, Mayweather vs Pacquiao will be available on various platforms reaching virtually every single Filipino in the country.
Solar Sports announced on Thursday that the 3 major networks in the Philippines – GMA-7, ABS-CBN and TV5. According to Ryan Songalia of Rappler.com, Solar won the Philippine broadcast rights for the sum of $10 million and it will be available live on PPV through Cignal and Sky Cable for approximately $44 U.S. Notably, the Pacquiao-Algieri fight in the Philippines cost $16-$23 U.S. on Philippines PPV via Cignal. Free-to-air showing of the May 2nd fight will be on ABS-CBN, GMA-7 and TV5, plus Solar Sports on cable beginning at 10 a.m. in the Philippines.
Payout Perspective:
The deal is similar to the HBO-Showtime deal in which rival networks which usually compete for the rights of big fights have come together recognizing that this event will be so big there will be enough revenue to go around. While there is a premium for those in the Philippines that want to watch the fight live, there is still the opportunity for most of the country to watch the fight.

$35 million in foreign revenue alone for Mayweather-Pacquiao… not bad.
Not bad at all. 🙂

Those are ridiculous numbers, wait til maypac2 and 3 lol
BrainSmasher says
Lol and not of it has anything to do with boxing. People are watching because of the promotion and the celebs involved. Just as many would watch them fight under Mma rules and be more satisfied with their purchase. 99.999% of these people who watch this fight don’t give a shit about boxing. They watch because it is getting a lot of hype. Both guys have piggybacked off every other sport to get attention from wwe to the UFC. These are not boxers its a singer verses a Pro Wrestler!

Now thats global…..10 million for tv rights….big money talk when it comes to boxing
tops E says
Now this is worth discussing 10 m for philippine tv rights…majority of that goes to pacmans purse……
.better discussion than ufc pay or some cheap reebok deal that would increse fighters earnings,or some locker room bonus(aka rumour) that dw wants to imply as under d table theres “more money” but wheres the figures? Meaning small money etc…. hahahaha

“Big money talk when it comes to boxing”
This wasn’t a boxing tv deal nimrod! It was for a match with these two people. No one wants anything to do with the sport of boxing because it sucks. They wait for someone interesting and buy them. Boxing is boring and currupt and no one cares about it. That’s why everyone is expecting and waiting for it to die!
Pink Pig says
Ahahahaha! Waiting for boxing to die?
What an idiot! Isnt boxing set to be on 13-14 different channels in the US this year?
LOL
$500 million Boxing event in Mayweather-Pacquiao? LOL
saldathief says
Wow BS is a complete idiot! laughable, delusional and a moron in complete denial of truth, facts. and a long long history of boxing super fights. It so funny how retards say boxing is dying when we are about to have the biggest combat sports event in history, rivaling any sport, and mma is basically scrambling for novelties and still doesn’t have any mainstream expectance hahaha
tops E says
Hahahaha…b.s. comes to life…the topic bothers him a lot hahahaha….big money, global sport….$35 mil just for international tv rights…rivals of mgm are not allowed to show the fight…chances are mgm paid huge money as site fee and sponsorship….good year for boxing!
tops E says
Always good when theres boxing news in mma payout…a break from low money talk and slave labor from the ufc…today theres a frank trigg article on his career and being underpaid a while ago w.silva called slavery hw ufc handles bizz…its depressing hahahahahaha

13-14 channels??? Yeah, and most of them they are paying for. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Saldaqueef, doing his faggot lover’s work spewing out nonsense. Everyone with a thought in their brain can see the writing on the wall. Boxing is going to take a major dive after their aging stars retire, notably Mayweather. They have nothing on the horizon. They have to pay to get tv deals. They can’t sell a ppv with anyone other than the aging fighters they have and they invest millions into time buys because they know they lost their grip over ppv. They have 1 fight and they are desperately attempting to use this fight to spring board their future which will never work in the US.
FightBusiness says
GGG, Andre Ward, Danny garcia, Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, 2 Cotto mega fights all on the horizon
saldathief says
Boxing has stars and MMA has cheap novelties hahahah but I will say that boxing has exploited more slaves then any sport in history, mma/ufc aren’t even in the same league on any level of evil compared to boxing.
d says
“GGG, Andre Ward, Danny garcia, Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, 2 Cotto mega fights all on the horizon”
The word “mega” gets thrown around very loosely. Only 1 of these guys will be possibly fighting on ppv this year and it will not be a mega fight.
d says
Saldaqueef and his delusional rants.
saldathief says
Not only is D a complete clueless idiot when it comes to mma, and any real world experience and he’s full of dog shit about his fantasy athletic accomplishments, but now hes trying to be a boxing expert too bahahahahhaha yea you and retard since birth mike tyson hahaha
d says
Haha. Always funny when someone proves Sal dead wrong with evidence. He just rants incoherently and attempts to convince himself that he isn’t embarrassed.
This freak is 50 years old, literally 50 and he acts like a 15 year old who desperately needs an aggressive regiment of anti psychotic meds.
tops E says
Dw new hype….its the biggest first quarter in ufc history hahahahahaha….he cant fool s nd p with those marketing hypes…haha
d says
2.3m ppv buys at the highest cost they’ve ever been. There’s no spin, he’s right.
Pink Pig says
One boxing PPV > 6 UFC PPVs
LOL
d says
7 out of 8 years MMA PPV > Boxing PPV
HAHAHA
The Greatest says
25 years straight boxing ppv> MMA ppv
Yea UFCs been on ppv since 1993, so those years count too.
HAHAHA Ooopsss.
d says
Hahaha. You are such an idiot.
First off, you can’t count, the ufc hasn’t even existed for 25 years. It has only been around and on ppv for 21+ years. And 7 out of the last 8, they were outdrawn by the ufc. Pretty pathetic that a sport which was only in existence for 13 years, started to outdraw boxing which has been around for over 100 and never really looked back.
HAHAHAHA!!! THE GAYEST!!!!
