MMA Junkie reports the attendance, gate and bonuses from UFC Fight Night 43 taking place last night (or this morning) from Auckland, New Zealand. It was the organization’s debut in New Zealand which took place at the Vector Arena.
According to the figures announced at the post-event news conference there were 8,098 in attendance with a live gate of $1.04 million New Zealand dollars which equates to approximately $913,000 U.S. dollars.
Bonuses for night were as follows:
Fight of the Night: Gian Villante-Sean O’Connell
Performance of the Night: Nate Marquardt and Charles Oliveira
Each received a $50,000 bonus for their work.
The event was shown on Fight Pass. It was the first of two events as UFC Fight Night 44 takes place in San Antonio tonight.
Payout Perspective:
Good performances by Marquardt and Oliveira. The Vector Arena is a 12,000 seat arena although we do not know the exact composition for the UFC event or the number of comps for the event. This was one of those regional events where those of us in North America had to stay up late or wake up early to see live.

Sonnen tests positive for epo and hgh oh no…
Hahaha…spin this quickly shills
saldathief says
Ouch another loss, they didn’t even cover production and travel on this one.
D says
Loss???
They do a near million dollar gate and have a nothing payroll, not including merchandise, sponsorship, etc. Their biggest cost was travel, etc. which they clearly eclipsed.
Another idiotic comment by Saldaqueef!
tops E says
Yeah..sure downgrade for next years credit rating for zuffa….theyre global expansion dosent bring enough money for 500million debt hahaha
D says
Your autism is flaring up.
tops E says
Whats 174 number? Hahaha
tops E says
Ufc should address its drug problem….no wonder sonnen resigned it wasnt from the fertitlity result but for hgh and epo….dw always has a kid glove treatment for sonnen ufc marketingman hahaha…

Tops get a life
saldathief says
Here ya go bone head, 1 million at the gate, 500g for production, 200 g for fighters payroll, I m sure they spent out the ass on advertising in a newer market. Plus New Zealand Taxes. Sponsorship in MMA is a joke merch maybe did 50 g us. Go sell your bullshit somewhere else this event was a turd!
D says
500k for production??? Probably not even close despite the travel. They had their production B team. The A team was in San Antonio. I wouldn’t be surprised if this only cost about 300k to produce, not including fighter pay. We have no idea what the sponsorship was, so to say that goes to show your ignorance. Also, this was on Fightpass, a paid subscription channel. That has to be factored in as well. Considering the payroll, they definitely profited. If they only broke even, it would still be a success due to the promotion abroad and potential for expansion. Also, you continue your ignorance, the New Zealand taxes are most likely next to nothing, the biggest taxes they are going to have to pay for this event are US income taxes……BECAUSE IT PROFITED!!!
Do you have any idea how big boxing matches don’t even hit a half a million dollar gate abroad? Are they all losing money? Spin that you twat. Keep up the lies Sal, no one believes your bullshit.
saldathief says
Ha ok so lets say it profited, but it didnt , what did they make 100k bahahahaha its a turd event quit the spin waste of time and money. BTW everything in NZ cost double then the USA fuck boy. Yea fight pass was a factor bahahaah gimmee a break
D says
They probably made a few hundred grand for a z level ufc fight card that was headlined by a guy who lost 3 straight fights against a guy who lost 2 straight fights. Do you think boxing could have done that type of gate with that poor caliber of a headliner?
NZ taxes are double than the US??? Arum’s got you lying in overdrive.
Idiot, people specifically pay for fight pass, they don’t for anything in boxing.
saldathief says
No, boxing wouldn’t have. Ive seen way worse boxing events with Champions, its beyond pathetic. I saw kelly Pavlik get waxed by Martinez was under 8 k. Boxing fans have HBO , showtime , espn and a few other outlets to watch, so I dont think fight pass would be as popular with boxing fans. I think espn 3 or something had some feeds. And if youve ever been to Australia or NZ you would know how expensive it is there. Google minimum wage in those countries for example you are so stupid its pathetic. Goes to show youve never been anywhere and are all research with no experience. Get a passport and try to travel outside Kansas or wherever the fuck you are from. Does Zuffa ever offer you any travel bahahaha
That fight lost its ass and UFC wont be back to NZ
jesse says
@saldathief Since your such a huge boxing fan i’m still waiting for you to send me the source of your claim that Froch vs Groves II did 1 million buys in the UK.
tops E says
Yeah…dw bucket list includes the philippines…theyve been stating they would go there. for 5 years now…they havent because they cant recover theyre overhead….creditors would be seeing this global tour and automatically downgrade zuffa ratings hahahaha
tops E says
How come dw and ufc are soo pissed at silva and protective of sonnen…why dont they “bury”sonnen like they did silva…..
D says
Jesse, he can’t because he fabricated the number.
Sal, I would know how expensive what is? The cost of living? The per capita gdp? Hey stupid ass. That goes to show you how popular the UFC is there if they can do a million dollar gate with an awful headliner. Hahaha. These people don’t have money and they are stilling paying that much to see a bullshit fight card. If you are talking about the sales tax, why don’t you do some research on the very well known exemption loopholes in NZ. Surely you know this seeing how your experience is so vast. By the way, as far as I know, the only thing Zuffa would be taxed on is the sales tax. Go to California and put on a show, check out how many taxes are in that state and you will wind up paying about 15%(plus you won’t have to loopholes that you can get abroad) as well.
They made money on it, you just hate the fact that they did. Cotto-Martinez probably didn’t make money though. HAHAHAHA!!
Uncle Bobby’s got you sucking his cock in overtime, doesn’t he?
James says
Here it says Hatton-Mayweather generated 1.2 million buys and Froch-Groves 2 will surely topple it.
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/boxing/479635/Sky-high-Carl-Froch-cashes-in-after-Wembley-fight
James says
Here Dan Rafael states that Froch-Groves 2 generated a little more than 900,000 buys.
http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/9480/hearn-planning-on-u-s-invasion
D says
Haha.
James/Sampson/Topps/etc.
Did you bother to read your sources? Or the discussion?
First off, your updated source was Rafael which was the 16th, 2 weeks after the other source which made no claim other than a believed estimation. Rafael said it did 900k @$27 of course. He may be correct, but he is getting that information from the promoter Hearn. That number depends on the honesty of the promoter at hand. Rafael doesn’t have any Skytv contacts. None of this has anything to do though with what Sal said, because he just fabricated the figure based off of what the promoter said he anticipated doing prior to the fight being aired.
Point being out of all of this, is this is an inflated number due to it being in the UK and the cost only being $27 per buy. This would be the equivalent to a ppv in the US of around 450k buys. A good number, but for the fight of the century in the UK, very poor comparatively to the US market.
tops E says
Ufc ppv numbers come from meltzer a journalist making newsletters for wrestling geeks hahahaha
tops E says
Funny d is new in mmapayout and he really thinks were one and the same hahahaha..very smart
BrainSmasher says
Lol at the trolls. Looks at the Fight Night gates. There is no way the UFC expected 2 million or even 1.5 million. So basically the got the upper end of what they expected. Now if their expected number didn’t turn a profit. Why did they run the event? This is where the troll argument falls apart. They are claiming the UFC is purposely pumping out event after event with many more planned while knowing they are losing money. Which they would not and could not afford to do as many times as they have done it.
They are turning a good profit and they are building fighters and contenders that go on to brig them even more profit down the road for a longer period of time.
jesse says
@james the promoter can claim any number and will you automatically believe it? Also that article claims that Hatton vs Floyd got 1.2 million buys where as it’s been released by HBO that the fight earned 920k buys
tops E says
B.s is back.hahaha…original shill
James says
Actually the 920,000 buys was on HBO in America… They got an ADDITIONAL 1.2 Million buys in the UK on Sky.
When has the UFC ever done that? NEVER
jesse says
When has the UFC ever had a World Champion from the UK? When has the UFC ever been given promotion by sky? NEVER
Ireland’s media has gotten behind Connor McGregor and because of that he is one of the biggest Sports personalities in the country and major Irish channels like E3 are paying large money to air his fights, as well as Channel 5(UK) and BT Sports.
Also don’t try and make it Boxing vs MMA because i’m a huge fan of both. I don’t like Kickboxing however yet i wouldn’t go on a kickboxing website and insult the sport and argue how MMA and boxing is better like you are currently doing as i have a life
saldathief says
Truth is we probably will never know the exact numbers on Froch Groves 2, but consider it sold out fucking Wembley stadium, so It was a extremely popular fight.
If anyone thinks a foreign company is going to go into NZ and do business without paying fees and taxes they are smoking too much dope! NZ regulates everything! even their domestic companies up the ass.
Jesse I’m a huge fan of any contact sport, boxing being one of my favorites. MMA use to be way more exciting idk maybe it is still but I don’t have time to watch 100 fights a week. Its a shame to see a great thing like the UFC go into the shitter with quality, and a bunch of other things. We all know boxing is full of shit for the most part, always has been always will, but to see the UFC lie and exaggerate worse then boxing is unsettling. I watched kick boxing when there was nothing else to watch! Only a true fight fan would understand that, not some researcher. Im getting tired of reading comments by google trolls who search the web looking for information that agrees with their agenda and then repost it like its the truth.
D says
Once again, nice dodge Sal. I never said they weren’t taxed, that is more of your Arum bullshit. What’s funny though, which you conveniently ignored, is that if they are in a welfare state in NZ, then it must be pretty impressive that they did a near million dollar gate with a horrible card.
More humor, coming from an idiot that doesn’t know the difference between organized labor and a business lobby, yet claims others are google educated. You have zero experience in this field. You don’t know shit. You just lie and fabricate things because you are a boxing and karate fanboy. It is very obvious.
It is obvious the quality of some of their cards have been watered down because of the amount of shows they are doing. You act like boxing hasn’t been doing the same exact thing for years though. How many boxing matches do Top Rank and GB do? How many have horrible under cards? At least in mma, you get to see more than 2-3 fights.
Also, to say that anyone lies more than Bob Arum is mind boggling. He is a sociopath.
D says
Haha. James/Sampson/Topss, etc.
HBO aired Froch-Groves free, there were no buys.
Skytv did not do 1.2m buys, that was what the Hatton-Mayweather fight did.
saldathief says
I really dont know what an American Boxing promoter has to do with a UFC fight in NZ. I think your medication needs to be adjusted once again by your psychiatrist. You babble your google research dribble and it shows you really dont even understand what you read. It completely laughable. You change subjects and bring up irrelevant nonsense like a stupid high school girl. Just admit that UFC NZ was a turd 360 degrees around. Just to fly all the techs and UFC staff with food and rooms is 100k Google that. You are a researcher and have no thoughts or experience of your own and its soooo obvious. You are a joke
D says
Well, you are a welfare to work, Bob Arum slave. You spew his propaganda to discredit anything that the ufc does. This is just another example of it.
Anyone who dedicates themselves to going on a mma website and trolling endlessly like you do, needs a team of psychiatrists to evaluate them.
Again, this is amusing seeing how you don’t even know basic information about these subjects yet accuse others of just being google educated. You don’t even know what organized labor is you idiot. My statements are always clear. I back them up with information. I have more experience in business than you do. Your experience comes from Uncle Bobby only. You don’t have a clue.
When did I say it didn’t cost them 100k from transportation, etc.? They still profited. Arum’s got you working overdrive sucking his nuts. You have to lie in an attempt to appear competent, which is the furthest thing from reality.
