Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports reports that UFC on Fuel TV 8 was the most watched UFC live event in the network’s history. Saturday night’s event from Japan scored twice the previous high of 485,000 viewers.
Also impressive was that the rerun received another 219,000 viewers. Wanderlei Silva versus Brian Stann was the main event for the show.
Via Dave Meltzer at MMA Fighting:
Both the pre-fight show (250,000 viewers) and post-fight show (219,000) became the second and third most-watched shows in station history. Even more impressive is the post-fight show didn’t start until 1 a.m.
UFC on Fuel TV 7: 195,000 live, 116,000 replay
UFC on Fuel TV 6: 88,000 live, 143,000 replay
UFC on Fuel TV 5: 111,000 live, 140,000 replay
UFC on Fuel TV 4: 211,000
UFC on Fuel TV 3: 173,000 live
UFC on Fuel TV 2: 197,000 live
UFC on Fuel TV 1: 217,000, live
Payout Perspective:
Outstanding numbers for a show that lacked big names and served as a ‘tweener show as the big event is in Montreal on March 16th. It was unlikely that Silva-Stann as the main event would draw such a high rating but it was a pleasant surprise.
MAchiel Van says
Hopefully they’ll continue to schedule the FUEL and then FS2 events on Saturday nights.
Sampson Simpson says
Ah. Half of what Bellator gets on Spike.
Cute numbers!
Anti-Sampson says
Simple Sampson,
Ah Bellator has not pulled numbers like the ufc did on Spike. 🙂
BrainSmasher says
Lol I would take 8 hours of the UFC on Fuel getting a combined 1.2 million viewers over 2 hours of Bellator on Spike. Wasn’t it you Samson Simpleton who said more eyes on the product is the only thing that matters? I see the UFC getting better ratings across the board lately despite you claiming they are on the decline while Bellator ratings stagnant and average at best. Another few hundred K viewers and little old Fuel will be beating Bellator.
Sampson Simpson says
Yeah, Bellator has been averaging 800k like I said they would.
UFC on Fuel has been averaging around what is that? 300k. So yeah, a double up and some more then they will close to what Bellator is. That will probably never happen.
Weezy02 says
“Ah. Half of what Bellator gets on Spike.
Cute numbers!”
Geez. Obsess much? They’ve completely broken you. Dana White and company have now taken up permanent residence in your head.
Chris says
UFC on fuel 8 500k viewers in 36 million homes.
Bellator on Spike 700-800k viewers in 100 million homes.
LOL yeah Sampson getting nervous.
Remember though Simple Sampson said it will take 3 years for the UFC on FS1 to do the same numbers as Bellator on Spike.
Whats Simple gonna say when the uFC goes to FS1 and does more viewers than Bellator on a network in less homes?
Chris says
and remember all those other Fuel shows either took place on a Tues, Wed or Sat morning/afternoon.
This was the first Sat night card.
codemaster says
The numbers are pretty good given the distribution of Fuel.
FS1 will replace the Speed channel which has 86 million distribution and there will also be FS2 carying the UFC.
The UFC will go up to the next level on US TV in the next two years. In addition, I believe deals will finally be cut in key markets like Mexico, as well as other nations. Brazil, Canada, Japan, the Philippines and other nations have a solid and growing fanbase–so I do not see anything but positives for the UFC in the short to medium term.
Sampson Simpson says
Nervous? For what would I ever be “nervous”? Hahahaha
You act like I have stock in Zuffa or Viacom which I don’t and am 1000% sure none of you losers do.
Root away, truth is that Bellator is averaging more than twice what UFC on FuelTV is. No argument to negate that.
Andrew Esch says
Sampson Simpson you are talking about bellator being on a channel that has been known and medium for quite some time spike is available in way more homes and very few ppl know fuel tv. bellator’s main card’s on spike don’t even beat ufc’s prelim ratings on fx.
Machiel Van says
“Stock in Zuffa”
Lol. What, you’re not 2,000% sure? A million percent?
Sampson Simpson says
Im a zillion percent sure Michael bleeds once a month
BrainSmasher says
Why? Because he split his side laughing at you? In that case we all bleed daily.
Sampson Simpson says
weak dana. real weak just like Fuel reach and ratings.
Sad to think UFC used to average 3 million viewers on Spike and now doesnt even do 300,000 on garbage Fuel now
Chris says
UFC is doing 5 mill on Fox while Bellator is struggling to hit a 900k.
Cute numbers, lol.
