MMA Fighting reports the ratings for UFC on Fuel TV 6 were lowest in company history with an average of 88,000 viewers. However, the live event was shown in the early morning in the United States which may be the cause for the ratings.
A replay of the broadcast was shown 4pm PT/7pm ET which earned an average of 143,000 viewers. In his article, Dave Meltzer notes that the late afternoon (on the West coast) replay was still a rather unique time slot.
Payout Perspective:
The ratings are not good (especially for a show featuring Rich Franklin) but nothing to be alarmed about considering the time slot of the card and its replay. Meltzer compares this show to the UFC on Fuel TV 5 show from Nottingham, England. In that case, the show went live 1pm PT/4pm ET and replayed at 10pm. That show went 111,000 for the live show and 140,000 for the replay.
The ratings reflect the fact that the moving time slots for the international show do not do well when they are live. However, I think the internet demands that the events are shown live and not tape-delayed. Regardless, the international shows are more about creating the audience overseas (especially with Saturday’s show) than tracking the ratings.

I actually think it is a great idea that they air it live and again at a normal time. Those who want to know the results live dont have to see results on the net and end up not watching later. The ones like me who avoided the results and waited until i could get the boys together that evening were also able to see the event. It spreads the ratings out but they get more viewers overall. That is more important to Fuel. Jose didnt mention that this was the 4th most watched day in Fuel history. That between the 3 showings of the event (even the replay was very early) this Fuel card drew a total of 290,000 viewers in a 16 hour span.
Looks like Bellator trounced the Fuel Card.

Bellator didnt trounce the Fuel card Juice, Bellator aired in primetime on Friday and did 148k, UFC aired at 4am/7am in the west and 7/9am in the east on a channel thats only in 35 mill homes compared to Bellators 80 mill homes.
88k to 148k considering the start times and the amount of homes each network is in I’d say thats plus for the UFC.
I for one am amazed they even drew 88,000 in such an early time slot. It was brutal for west coast viewers. Glad to see they replayed it twice and that they got a lot of use out of the programming. I agree with B-Smash, it was a good day for FUEL overall and that’s what ultimately matters to FOX.
Bellator may have outdrawn a pitifully accessible channel by 5,000 viewers for an afternoon showing with their own primetime effort, but they hardly “trounced” the FUEL show and had a steep decline week over week. To be fair, I don’t think the MTV2 ratings matter much at this point; all speed ahead to SPIKE. I wish they published the number of viewers who tune-in to the stream on SPIKE.com; I’ve been watching them that way all season.
UFC should have never left Spike big mistake I still cant get fuel TV and I live IN a huge market. I also travel a lot and stay in hotels all over America and you wouldn’t even know the UFC exists anymore from watching cable TV. Ate we watching a slow death?
The UFC is doing just as mant events on cable as they ever did on Spike TV. All the Fuel events are bonus events they added to the year just for Fuel. So the only thing people are missing from the UFC leaving Spike is the constant reruns of Unleashed. Everything else has moved to FX.
Brian, fuel tv is a fantom network that is not on major cable markets. There could be a million fights on fuel and no one is watching. Apparently the numbers show. Spike is everywhere. UFC threw the baby out with the bath water on multiple levels. Soon they will have to manage their fighters in a business sense and not this righteous BS that is killing them.! Funny they point the finger at boxing and say “evil, bad” If MMA is going to survive its going to have to take a few pages from boxing and swallow its pride. Its a business remember.
Brainsmasher you know why the ufc was the 4th most watched show on fuel? Because fuelTV programs suck….that stat means absolutely nothing..putting fights on fuel is not fair to fans who want to watch but dont want to subscribe the fuel tvs terrible programs
