EA MMA Adds Rogers & Shields

November 9, 2009 by Kelsey Philpott Leave a Comment

Loretta Hunt of Sherdog.com is reporting that EA Sports have signed Brett Rogers and Jake Shields to be a part of their untitled MMA video game:

Rogers and Shields join previously revealed participants and Strikeforce stablemates Emelianenko, Gegard Mousasi, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, and Jay Hieron. Jason Miller and recent Strikeforce signee Muhammed Lawal will also grace the game.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and Strikeforce middleweights Benji Radach and Tim Kennedy, have also announced their involvement with the game in past interviews.

Also announced on Friday, Strikeforce commentators Mauro Ranallo and Frank Shamrock, as well as ring announcer Jimmy Lennon, will represent their real-life roles in the game.

Payout Perspective:

The EA MMA promotion was out in full force on Saturday night with a host of ads over the course of the 2 1/2 hour program. It’ll be interesting to see if their PR and marketing initiatives can now sustain the awareness and excitement that was generated over the weekend.

In case you missed it, here’s the trailer:
