DAZN and Combate Americas announce multiyear content deal

September 13, 2018

DAZN and Combate Americas, LLC have signed a multiyear distribution deal as the new streaming platform launches in the U.S. The deal will give Combate Americas another way for fans to watch its promotion.

The live and on-demand sports streaming service made the announcement on Thursday.  The first fight for Combate Americas will take place on Friday, September 14th.  Gilbert Melendez and Juliana Pena will be announcing alongside Max Bretos.

The deal, according to the press release, will bring Combate Americas to English-language viewers for the first time.

DAZN has forged deals with Bellator MMA, Matchroom Boxing and the World Boxing Super Series.  It boasts 80+ nights of fights as it debuts in the U.S. this week.

Payout Perspective:

The Combate Americas deal allows for more content on the streaming service giving the platform more depth.  With a glut of streaming services and media deals for boxing and MMA, DAZN is seeking more content to allure the combat sports fans.  Combate Americas is still an upstart organization that caters to the Mexican demographic.  It has boasted strong (relatively speaking) ratings on Univision and this will grant more access for American viewership.
