Nate Diaz set to return to octagon in November

August 3, 2018

Nate Diaz is returning to the UFC to face Dustin Poirier at UFC 230 in New York at Madison Square Garden November 3rd.  The Los Angeles Times was the first to report the fight which pits one of the top lightweights against one of the more popular fighters in the UFC.

The fight will likely be one of the headliners for the UFC’s 25th Anniversary Show.  Diaz is scheduled to attend Friday’s press conference which will announce the promotion’s fall schedule.

Poirier defeated Eddie Alvarez this past Saturday at UFC on Fox 30 and inches closer to a title shot against the winner of the anticipated Conor McGregor-Khabib Nurmogomedov

Payout Perspective:

The return of Diaz from a two-year absence will help the UFC business.  Regardless of records, Diaz is someone to watch and it appears that the company is looking for a huge, talent-packed November show.  If McGregor shows up at Friday’s press conference, we could see a bump in views just for this media event.  Also, if McGregor fights this October as rumored, we should be looking at the winner of Diaz-Dustin facing McGregor-Khabib winner in the first quarter of 2019.
