Conor McGregor is returning to the Octagon to face Khabib Nurmogomedov on October 3rd in Las Vegas as announced on Friday during a UFC press conference which ran down the fall events for the company. McGregor and Nurmogomedov were not present.
Nate Diaz was present and was not happy about the announcement.

Payout Perspective:
Despite Diaz’s tirade, expect him to fight in November against Dustin Poirier. One month before McGregor and Nurmogomedov should bring the company it’s first 1 million PPV buy event in some time. Moreover, Diaz-Poirier in New York at MSG is likely not the only marquee event for the company’s 25th Anniversary show. Spacing out these two fights to two events is great for business. McGregor-Nurmogomedov is huge and will bring tons of fans from both bases to Vegas to witness the fight. The shoulder programming for this event will be big and should garner a lot of mainstream media coverage due to McGregor’s return.
