UFC Fight Night 110 attendance, gate and bonuses

June 10, 2017

The main event of UFC Fight Night 110 drew Fight of the Night bonuses as Mark Hunt and Derrick Lewis led the list of $50,000 bonus winners.  In addition Ben Nguyen and Dan Hooker scored Performance of the Night victories.

The attendance, gate and bonuses were announced post-event by the UFC.

The event took place in Auckland, New Zealand and it was Mark Hunt’s first pro MMA bout in his home country.  He earned a stoppage win against Derrick Lewis in the 4th Round of their 5-round bout.  Nguyen upset Tim Elliott with a rear-naked choke in the first round.  Maybe most impressive was Dan Hooker’s knee to Ross Pearson’s chin which earned him the victory.

The event took place at the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand and drew  8,649 for a live gate of $1,150,428 NZD (almost $830,000 U.S.) per MMA Junkie.

It was the UFC’s second time in New Zealand as it came to the country in 2014.  UFC Fight Night 43 drew 8,098 in attendance with a live gate of $1.04 million New Zealand dollars which equates to approximately $913,000 U.S. dollars.

Payout Perspective:

Derek Brunson and Vinc Pichel could have earned a $50,00 bonus as well but no complaints on Hooker or Nguyen.  The event numbers are on par with the UFC’s last visit.  It was an entertaining night of fights with a lot of stoppages.

Aussies love mma. The UFC always kills it there. Very good night of fights!

  2. M on June 11th, 2017 3:06 PM

    Uhhh ‘d’, New Zealander’s are not ‘Aussie’…

  3. Marco Contreras on June 11th, 2017 3:23 PM

D it was in New Zealand

  4. Marco Contreras on June 11th, 2017 3:24 PM

Good showing , if the numbers are accurate .
Glad to see MMA hasn’t fallen off in New Zealand

  5. Wil on June 11th, 2017 6:26 PM

Hansen…..the term for New Zealanders is “kiwis” or as the Australians call them “south sea poms”……

  6. d on June 11th, 2017 8:03 PM

All a part of the Australian continent so all is good.

What’s up with this Hansen fetish Wil? Freak. Haha.

  7. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 5:45 AM

D just admit you were wrong , have dignity lol at well continent response , it’s the world too so all goood

  8. Fight Fan on June 12th, 2017 6:38 AM

Lol d that’s like calling Canadians Americans. Nice try. No way to pay that 4 billion.

  9. d on June 12th, 2017 7:45 AM

Always amusing coming from someone who has zero dignity like you “Marco”.

  10. d on June 12th, 2017 7:47 AM

FF, they are North Americans. Thanks for making my argument. Haha.

It’s going to be very amusing from here on out watching the boxing fanboys attempt to spin boxing numbers while they watch their sport gradually get devoured by mma.

  11. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:52 AM

D zero credibility from you , came even admit when you made a mistake . How are people going to trust your words ? Answer they won’t , typical scarcity mentality . I’ll let you have the last word I expect you to add many “haha” as if that makes it correct and Your comical “boxing people ” . Once again scarcity mentality

I am a combat sports fan and want to see all combat sports prosper . I hope wme turns its product around before it becomes too late and if not UFC maybe bellator can become that brand

  12. d on June 12th, 2017 8:34 AM

” came even admit when you made a mistake . How are people going to trust your words ?”

The height of hypocrisy. I prove what you say to be wrong basically every time you comment here and you are in full blown denial.

No, you aren’t a combat sports fan. You are a boxing fanboy. Goes to show how delusional you are and unaware of your own biases.

“I hope the UFC turns its product around before it become too late”

Because they had 2 slower than usual qtrs in ppv?

Go back to 2014 where nearly every UFC major headlining fight was scrapped and they had an 8 year low in ppv revenue. You guys were all talking about how they were done, mma is a fad, it’s ending, etc. Then they followed it up with the two best years the company ever saw and Zuffa sold it for 4.2b.

    You are completely delusional.

  13. Keef on June 12th, 2017 8:50 AM

D there is no such thing as the “Australian continent”. I think you mean the Oceanian continent but why not buy yourself an atlas, genius?

  14. Diego on June 12th, 2017 9:33 AM

I’m surprised that Hunt got FoTN – I figured with his ongoing lawsuit he wouldn’t be eligible. But good for him. I’m a huge Mark Hunt fan.

Good night of exciting fights. Did Derrick Lewis really retire? He looked on his way to a title shot and despite this set-back he has a good future in the octagon. If he’s hanging up his gloves it tells me he’s not getting paid enough to be properly incented. The sport shouldn’t be losing good fighters in their primes like Lewis and Rumble.

  15. d on June 12th, 2017 9:39 AM

Good point Diego. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they are hoping to have him drop the suit. Who knows? I’m still not sure how he has a case against the UFC, because they gave cart blanche to USADA to run the testing.

Did Rumble say he left because of money? He may have been somewhat underpaid, but he made 500k against DC in the 1st title fight, I would assume he made about the same for the 2nd. That’s not bad money. Lewis seemed like he wanted out because he didn’t want his family seeing him getting beat up and concerned about his health.

  16. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 10:40 AM

Diego it was a great scrap , although Derick gassed badly the fight was fun to watch , he did retire and had been hinting at it for a while

I think it’s return on investment, reebok deal really caused issues with making money, hopefully they resolve them

  17. Diego on June 12th, 2017 10:46 AM

d – you’re right about Rumble. From what I’ve seen he’s making pretty good money. And considering how long it took him to get to this level, I expected him to keep fighting to milk it. He could probably get another win against Gustafson – and it would be a big fight for him. He could also crush a couple of the guys lower in the rankings and make good money headlining those shows. He has a lot of options that would put good money in his bank account

With Derrick I wonder if he hasn’t made the kind of money that he wanted. I feel like he’s just beginning to mature as a fighter. Mark Hunt exposed him, but it shouldn’t be the end of his career.

  18. Wil on June 12th, 2017 4:54 PM

New Zealand apart of the Australian continent…..folks….that says all you ever need to know about Hansen there

  19. d on June 12th, 2017 5:05 PM

Wil continues with his Hansen fetish. Took him a while to comment, I guess he was too busy trying to find an alternative source to De La Hoya’s ppv numbers. Haha.

  20. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 6:34 PM

Turns out d was right , Canelo v Chavez Jr didn’t do 1 million
Per multiple sources it will be closer to 1.2

    http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/19420711/canelo-alvarez-julio-cesar-chavez-jr-crosses-historic-1-million-mark-pay-per-views

  21. d on June 12th, 2017 7:14 PM

“Canelo Alvarez’s 12-round shutout decision against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in their long-anticipated all-Mexico rivalry fight on May 6 in Las Vegas generated at least 1 million buys on HBO PPV, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya said Friday.”

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Multiple sources my ass! Oscar De La Hoya was the source. You notice Rafael never names these “sources”? He was forced a long time ago to stop investing ppv numbers after the Guerrero-Mayweather disclosure.

Marco read my comment and went on a google tear looking for something to verify the bs numbers and what did he come up with? Oscar De La Hoya’s figures. HAHAHAHA!!!

  22. d on June 12th, 2017 7:19 PM

Rafael also stated initially his info was from multiple sources only to admit later it was coming from De La Hoya directly.

  23. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:39 PM

    Source D

  24. d on June 12th, 2017 7:42 PM

    Dan Rafael

  25. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:43 PM

In regards to this fight ? Oh btw

Sources from multiple cable and satellite sources

    http://www.sportingnews.com/other-sports/news/canelo-ppv-buys-vs-chavez-jr-canelo-vs-ggg-boxing/71o7458argn812jbnf8a2s8m8

Sure D , your word or from insiders, not hard to see who has an agenda coming from a scarcity mentality

  26. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:44 PM

Link your source and time stamp of when your claim was made ? You have been wrong and proven wrong from multiple people here

  27. d on June 12th, 2017 7:52 PM

You are extremely dense. Here is how this works:

Dan Rafael interviewed Oscar De La Hoya a few days after the fight. He asked him what the ppv numbers were. De La Hoya told him, over 1m buys. From there, he reported it as an inside source, where he published the article. He is the top journalist in boxing, when he publishes a report on these numbers, people source him. No one else reported anything isolated from him other than probably Kevin Iole who also gets his information from promoters and nearly always turns out to be wrong. So, from the point where he published the article and everyone else jumped on board, he acknowledged later, that the source was De La Hoya. It wasn’t until after that, that he published the article you posted.

Also, the second article you posted was littered with inconsistencies and flat out false figures. Those figures do not get tallied that quickly. The only hard figures they have at that point are the satellite numbers and they would be nowhere near 900k buys. But most importantly, this second article’s information was taken directly from Iole. It even mentions it within the article the interview was conducted by Yahoo sports, ie, Kevin Iole.

You are wrong basically every time you comment here and you would never accept Dana White’s word on ppv numbers yet you are in denial here about the fact that De La Hoya was the source.

  28. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:55 PM

    Where is the link ?

  29. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:56 PM

Also Canelo vs Chavez did in gate 10,631,850 that beats Mcgregor vs Aldo which did spectacular shoes here is room for boxing and mma no need for hat scarcity mentality

  30. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:57 PM

    Shows not shoes lol

  31. d on June 12th, 2017 7:58 PM

    Here you go genius:

    May 9th:

“No official numbers yet for #CaneloChavez PPV but I’m told it will be at least 1 million buys. A huge number for the fight. ”

Clearly implying he is sourcing some unbiased source

    May 11th:

“I spoke to Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya Thursday afternoon and he said the Canelo-Chavez PPV numbers are “way over a million” buys. He said he expects to have enough numbers to make an official announcement on Friday.”

Then on the 19th, he posted the lie about multiple sources.

No go run back to your parent’s basement where you crawled out of.

  32. Marco Contreras on June 12th, 2017 7:59 PM

Tick tock D show the link

I’ll check tomorrow if you posted

  35. d on June 12th, 2017 8:02 PM

The other comment was from his twitter account.

Good idea running away for the night.

  36. Marco Contreras on June 13th, 2017 5:06 AM

    Nice try that link

D you claim falsely “Rafael also stated initially his info was from multiple sources only to admit later it was coming from De La Hoya directly.”

The link you provided NOWHERE does it say what you claim

Provide a real link are be left as an exposed lair

  37. d on June 13th, 2017 8:44 AM

He clearly implied it was coming from undisclosed inside sources. Regardless if it were multiple initially or one, it is still the same principle. He’s implying it is not the promoter and it was.

    Here are his comments:

    May 9th:

““No official numbers yet for #CaneloChavez PPV but I’m told it will be at least 1 million buys. A huge number for the fight. ”

    May 11th:

“I spoke to Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya Thursday afternoon and he said the Canelo-Chavez PPV numbers are “way over a million” buys. He said he expects to have enough numbers to make an official announcement on Friday.”

Yeah, he was told by Oscar De La Hoya on the 9th that the numbers were way over 1m and then followed up with it again on the 11th by again sourcing Oscar and then getting the alleged final number from him shortly after and publishing that on the 19th which was your sourced link.

How can you seriously deny this information was coming directly from De La Hoya and no one else? It’s so obvious it is unreal. Rafael stopped investigating numbers after the Guerrero-Mayweather debacle.

  38. d on June 13th, 2017 8:48 AM

That fight was on the 6th, and for anyone who knows anything about ppv numbers, they know, most big fights only have promoter’s numbers up until the following Thursday which in this case was the 11th. Anyone reporting any numbers by the following Tuesday is likely fabricating figures.

You would know this if you had any knowledge about how the buy rates work, but since you are ignorant to this subject, you’ve just exposed yourself once again as a fool.

  39. Marco Contreras on June 13th, 2017 1:15 PM

    Where is the link

  40. Marco Contreras on June 13th, 2017 2:13 PM

Still waiting on the link where you claimed Dan admited he had no multiple sources

You can write a thesis on what you perceive all you want

Still doesn’t prove the claim you made that dan admited he only has Oscar as his source

    Proved the link fraud
