UFC Fight Night 109 attendance, gate and bonuses

May 28, 2017

MMA Junkie reports the attend ace, gate and bonuses from UFC Fight Night 109 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The event drew 12,668 for a gate of $1,920,000 at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm.  It was the third highest gate in Stockholm since the UFC debuted in 2012.

  1. UFC on Fuel TV 2 – April 2012   15,428 for a live gate of $2,230,000
  2. UFC on Fuel TV 9 – April 2013 14,506 for a live gate of $2,710,53
  3. UFC Fight Night 109 – May 2017 12,668 for a live gate of $1,920,000

In addition, bonuses went to Alexander Gustafsson, Glover Teixeira, Bojan Velickovic and Damir Hadzovic.  The main event between Gustafsson and Teixeira drew the Fight of the Night.  Gus won via 5th round stoppage.  Prelim fighters Velickovic and Hadzovic drew Performance bonuses.  Each drew $50,000.

Payout Perspective:
The Swedish fans are passionate for MMA and have turned out for the UFC.  It helps having a fighter like Gustafsson who did not disappoint the fans or his girlfriend as The Mauler proposed in the Octagon.

MMA is huge in Sweden. This was another big fight they had in Stockholm. Goes to show how big mma is in Europe and is growing.

    Great night of fights too!

Gus looks like he’s getting the winner of DC and Jones.

But it wasn’t the third highest grossing event in Sweden – The 2015 Fox card did over 3 million with over 30,000 in attendance. There were a noticeable amount of empty seats for this event, unfortunately. Probably due to the quality of the card itself. It is the fourth out of five placed events in Sweden based on gate as well as attendance but credit where it is due – Great main event but a weak undercard

Good numbers , glad to see that UFC is making some headway in the European market. Although the country is small and financially not a big U.K. money type market , it’s a start

Haha. The market isn’t small compared to the UK. Look at the gate. How many fights in the UK this year have done that? I’m guessing 1.

    declining numbers

Yup, boxing’s numbers are declining. Haha.

90k at wembley is hardly declining d, ufc has never filled a venue that big lol. Or sold 2 million ppvs in a single event.

So WHY is “UFC on Fuel TV 2” lifted first, when it clearly drew significantly less than the next one??? And if it’s going strictly by chronological order, why would they write “It was the third highest gate in Stockholm since the UFC debuted in 2012”??? It’s immensely confusing, everyday mistakes like this that make the site unviewable.

FF loves attendance, too bad he doesn’t realize it is a sucker’s number and the revenue is the relevant thing. Speaking of which, I guarantee you there were at least 5 UFC’s last year that outdrew that Joshua show in gate money. UK market is a fraction of the US/Canada.

Speaking of 2m….boxing didn’t even hit 2m buys all of last year. Hahaha.

Got something to say?
