According to ticket search engine, SeatGeek, the average resale price for UFC 168 was $536 per ticket which is the fourth-highest for a UFC event since the company began tracking the sport in 2009.
Despite the fact that UFC 168 will surpass UFC 167 in all facets of revenue production, it still was the most expensive fight tracked by SeatGeek with an average of $586 per ticket. UFC 137 (Penn-Diaz, $578) and UFC 126 (Silva-Belfort, $565) were next. Notably, UFC 137 had a poor PPV buy rate with only 280K in October 2011.
“Upper-level seats for Saturday’s fight went for an average of $329 per ticket, and lower-level seats commanded an average of $716 each,” according to Connor Gregoire of SeatGeek, “Floor seats were purchased on the resale market for an average of $2,321 per ticket, and some went for more than $5,000 apiece.”
Gregoire added that 3 of the 5 most in-demand fights took place in 2013.
Payout Perspective:
Interesting numbers regarding last Saturday’s fight. Note that two of the top four fights included Anderson Silva. This goes to the UFC’s concern that both Silva and GSP (167’s star attraction) are top draws. While this may be due to huge backing from their respective countries, the UFC will want to rally around a fighter that can draw the ticket demands of Silva and St. Pierre.
