The Economics of UFC Primetime

January 15, 2009

Dana White told MMAWeekly’s Ken Pishna that the series will cost $1.7 million to produce. Assuming that the typical Countdown show costs roughly $200,000 to produce, that would mean that the series needs to add 60,000 buys to UFC 94 in order to break even. Of course it will be hard to pin point exactly how much the show moves the buy rate (which was expected to be big with or without UFC Primetime), but the ratings should give a good indication.
