Fight Biz Quote: Dana White
July 18, 2008
“You want to learn how to do this business,” he said. “Spend 44 [expletive] million dollars to figure it out like I did . . . maybe you’ll make it, maybe you won’t. Good luck.”
Dana White, speaking to the LA Times about Affliction’s efforts to promote MMA.
Dana is neither the genius that some make him out to be, nor is he the the idiot that others would like to paint him as. He is someone that, by virtue of the financial backing of the Fertittas, was given the time and money to learn from his successes and failures. That’s a luxury that most aren’t accorded in the business world. Often your first big mistake can be your last. Dana was given enough rope to hang himself, but to his credit, he was able to use the rope to climb out of the financial hole instead.
